Administrative Council of Wesley Grove

The purpose of the Administrative Council is to provide for planning and implementing a program of nurture, outreach, witness, and resources in the local church. It also provides for the administration of its organization and temporal life. It shall envision, plan, implement, and annually evaluate the mission and ministry of the church. The church council is amenable to and functions as the administrative agency of the charge conference.

The Administrative Council is also responsible for (a) annual review the church membership; (b) filling interim vacancies occurring among the lay officers of the church between sessions of the annual charge conference; (c) establishing the budget on recommendation of the committee on finance and ensuring adequate provision for the financial needs of the church; (d) recommending to the charge conference the salary and other remuneration of the pastor and staff members after receiving recommendations from the committee on staff-parish relations; and (e) reviewing the recommendation of the committee on staff-parish relations regarding provision of adequate housing for the pastor, and report the same to the charge conference for approval. Housing provisions comply with the annual conference housing policy and parsonage standards. Housing is not considered as part of compensation or remuneration.

Members of the Administrative Council are involved in the mission and ministry of the congregation. The membership of the council may consist of as few as eleven persons or as many as the charge conference deems appropriate. The Administrative Council includes persons who represent the program ministries of the church. The membership includes, but is not limited to the following: (a) the chair of the Administrative Council; (b) the lay leader; (c) the chair of the staff-parish relations committee; (d) the chair of the committee on finance; (e) the chair of the board of trustees; (f) the church treasurer; (g) a lay member to annual conference; (h) the representative of the United Methodist Men; (i) the representative of the United Methodist Women; (j) a representative of the United Methodist Youth; and (k) the pastor.

The Administrative Council meets the second Monday of each month unless circumstances indicate a meeting is not needed. The Administrative Council chair or the pastor may call special meetings.
